As we closed our eyes (2017)

Cyanotype on glass (113 x 55, 79 x 59, 70 x 40 cm)

As we closed our eyes is a series of windows collected from the house I grew up in, the windows are coated with cyanotype that develops an image of an explosion.

My family and I came to Sweden as refugees from the war-torn Iran.

My parents have told me about life during wartime, being the state of uncertainty, that when the signal alarmed about bomb planes being close my parents closed their eyes, not knowing if they would be able to open them up ever again.
